The High Line: A garden.
A suspended railroad in lower Manhattan, New York City, fallen into disuse and transformed into a modern garden, after experiencing a period of industrial wasteland, rich in vegetation.
Its evolution and linearity were the graphic notions of this project. I worked with the conductive copper to represent the heat mirages which I felt and saw during my walk on the High Line in August 2016. The range of colors I chose was inspired by the evolution of the High Line: old rails, vegetation, surrounding buildings, new urban design. Tones go from rust-color, to blue which is reflected in windows, via the green of plants, and grey of the cement and steel. Essentially, this was woven during my last semester at ARBA-ESA (BE). It was the ideal approach for the linear quality I was aiming for in the project.
